Area Info

This beautiful part of the west coast is the perfect setting with white rocks and a cobalt sea. The bay was discovered by Vasco da Gama about 1647. People come here to relax in the peace and quiet of a tranquil country village with a bustling fishing harbor.

St Helena Bay lies against the little hills hugging the bay which of course is North Facing.

Most of our plots and homes we have for sale have spectacular views or is then either beach front properties.

This beautiful bay is one of 3 in the world that is in a natural bay of the mainland coastlines of the world.

We have fantastic views of the beautiful sunrise and sunsets over the sea.

Therefore we are fortunate enough to have schools of whales and dolphins most of the year.

Not forgetting St Helena Bay is the biggest fishing village in the entire West Coast and has a working harbour and safe bays.

It is a safe haven for many Coaster and Large boats to hide from the rough seas or whilst they wait to off load there cargo at Saldanha Bay Harbor.

St Helena Bay is 160 km from Cape Town on the scenic drive of the West Coast Road. Less than 2 hours later you will be greeted by this quiet virtually crime free town with a typical West Coast lifestyle.

Bird watchers all flock to see the different varieties that can be seen all year round.

The cold waters of this lovely bay don’t keep the Youngsters from swimming and the kayaks take advantage of the tiny waves.

In the winter we get the strong rain from the sea coming in towards the land and some times we then do see waves and accompanied by gushing wind you will find all the boats tied up securely.

But the winter brings a fantastic treat, snoek, then the harbor and the town bustles a hive of activity! Most of the fish are sold off the boats. The fisherman keep the best fish out and these we call ‘fries’ this is normally the nicest biggest snoek and tastes divine  after salting it for 20 minutes and putting it straight on the Braai and on the side fresh bread and Jam and sweet potatoes baked in the oven! To die for.

From July to September you must visit St Helena Bay we have the most wonderful displays of wild flowers, the town is covered in carpets of fynbos and beautiful flowers and does attract a lot of tourists and visitors.

St Helena Bay is situated within a hour or two to most of the surrounding towns like Citrusdal, Piketberg, CapeTown, Darling, Malmesbury, Veldrift, Langebaan, Saldanha and beautiful Paternoster.

We are only 23km for our closest big town Vredenburg and with our newly built Mall we have access to all the large department stores.

We have a number of primary schools in our town as well as a Dr and a Dentist, autobank facility’s a hotel many nice restaurants as well as a shopping centre.

On the investment side St Helena Bay has not stayed out of the picture and we have seen at least 5000 new plots been developed since 2004 and most of the developments don’t have a building time limit.

We have a fantastic new development called Sandy Point Beach Estate which is a gated security village with 24 hours security no building time and on the waters edge.

This development is in the town centre and it will also be the home of a future proposed marina basin. There are also plans to develop a shopping centre as well!

Not forgetting a fantastic up market development Shelly Point with all its splendor and some lovely guest houses, country spa restaurant and boutique hotel as well as its own golf course.

Other developments in the area that are really worth looking at for investment are Sandy Point Heights, Da Gama Bay and Harbor Heights.

After all we have been living here for more than 34 Years and would not trade it for the world.

Do give our town a visit shortly you will be surprised as the town does still give you value for money if you are looking for the perfect investment to suit your pocket!
